Game Testing

This week reading is called "Giving Criticism-The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" which is about the giving criticism and accepting criticism. This reading is interesting as it explains how to give constructive criticism, even giving examples of constructive criticism. However one wishes that this reading was given earlier in the year to get the full value out of it.

Moving on to the Additional reading, the first being "Extra Credit: Play Testing", this video focuses on play-testing in games. The video can  be broken down into 2 part, the first being, criticism of play-testing, how to handle criticism, how to listen to criticism and even to let pride mix into play-testing. This was interesting as it was simple yet understandable, as not following the advice it could led damage's one game and cost valueful resources.

The next part deals with how use play-testing to its full advantage by carefully picking who should play-test, where to have the play-test happen and how to take the criticism. This was also super interesting as the video give useful advice for game developers new or veterans.

The final additional reading is "Extra Credit: So You want to be in QA ?", this video deals with QA testers and how QA testing works. This is interesting as QA testers uses the scientific method to find the root cause of the problem and to save the developers time in fixing said problems. In fact a developer could use the scientific method to look for bugs for one's own game.

Hello, I'm Sarah and this my introduction post ! Here's bit of information about me: I live in Dublin, in Ireland and I've live there all my life. Game Vision Statement

Vision, it's a powerful thing, I should know, I needed glasses and didn't know I needed them, Now I can't live without them. Anyway, that's not what I'm talking, today I'm gonna be talking about my game and how I envision it. First, My Game will be a first person Action-Adventure game with some debatable RPG elements, I say debatable because now of days many games have RPG mechanics but aren't really RPGs, for example is Far cry 5 an RPG because you get new skills and have an inventory ? The game is mostly based off, Terraria  so the gameplay is very similar to it, you'll need to collect certain items, build up your strength, get stronger and defeat bosses. The big difference is that my game is going to be in 3D while Terraria is a 2D game, I'm not sure in what way that will effect the gameplay as that can effect a game very badly, for example Mega-man X7   and I'll have to be careful not to fall into that "pit-fall" get it ?
