Growth Mindset: OH NO NOT THE BLOCK !!


Oh god it only a few seconds into the video and I'm getting flashback to my dyslexia test with those stupid lovely blocks. I remember you would be given a card and you had to make the pattern on the card with the block, oh god I hated it, biggest pain in the arse going. I could never figure out how to make the blocks match the stupid pattern and you had to 25 of them, 25 PATTERN ?! I'M GETTING BLEEDED VIETNAM FLASHBACK TO THIS.

Oh god I've just realized that I'm just at of spending a minute ranting about those stupid blocks and I haven't even introduced the video and surprise, I'm not drunk.  So this video is called "Carol Dweck: The Effect of Praise on Mindsets", one the aspects I find interesting about the video is that the kids get praise ! When did this, I was so bad they had to label me to let people know I was a stupid dopey child, DYSLEXIA and yes I didn't google how to spell it  HA !

Is it bad that when I did it and got to the hard one I ask could I go home ? Actually if I remember correctly, I push the blocks away and went to bed at one point, younger me was a brave little twat, wasn't she ?

When I was asked if I wanted to go do the easier one or the harder one, I said I want to do neither and play my DS. 

Also I just realized that those block test were created by this Carol Dweck, Now I know whose face I'm putting on the dartboard tonight. Hang on, is that I why I kept getting asked what does the teacher and my parents say about my work ? Is that why I got asked does the voice in my head say when I'm working on something hard ? To figure out if I have a fixed or growth mindset ?

To bad I answered: "Can I go to the bathroom ? I gonna wet myself.", although I think 8 year old me got Growth mindset at the time, then again I never did listen to my teachers back then.

Unity tutortial 07

Another week, another unity tutorial this time I'm not following along with Jimmy Vegas' tutorial series and instead following another series of tutorial to learn how to put an inventory in my game ! In particular, this video  Unity Inventory UI Tutorial  which is a 3d inventory ! Thank god, every fucking tutorial I looked for inventory were for 2d games, not 3d. First Playable

Project update time! So this week I've been working hard on the axe side of things, I wanted allow the player to be able to pick up the axe and swing it. However I learnt something that I hope wasn't true but sadly is, You can't reused scripts!! I tried to reused the Axe Swing script from jimmy Vegas and it work, but when I recreated it, it did work ! Unity you picky bastard you. Oh yeah I also made a building too, screen shot taken by Me. I also work on taking the axe out of the wall but had to focus on the ray-casting which was a pain in the ass because I completely forgot about it and had to go back to work on it. Honestly I've spent more then 3 hours working on this and while I'm proud of what I've done so far, I also sad because I really wanted to get to the first playable stage of the game but haven't be able to, Hell I still haven't gotten to the player able to take the damn axe out of the damn wall yet. Unity Free Tutorials

Hello and welcome to my blog ! With My Non-swinging Axe.  This week I'm looking at unity tutorials for my game, that totally weren't sent by my mate Oisin, cheers Oisin !  To see if they can help my game. The first one is "PATROL AI WITH UNITY AND C#"   Jesus, someone needs to calm down with the CapLk.  A handy video that teaches a little bit of different coding but with little explanation of what the code does but personally I recommend muting the video and just because his voice is annoying, I'm half deaf and his voice was giving a headache ! So after doing the tutorial I came across a problem, the script doesn't seem to be working, there's supposed to be a speed box but as you can see there is none, even after I tried to listen to the video I couldn't get it to work.
